OSC cycling for August 5 will begin at the Burger King restaurant in Tully. The ride will depart at 6:00 pm; try to arrive by 5:45.

Cycling - East Syracuse Minoa HS (08/12/2026)

OSC cycling for August 12 will begin at the East Syracuse Minoa High School parking lot, departing at 6:00 pm. Try to arrive by 5:45.

Hike at Fellows Hill, Fabius (08/18/2026)

Fellows Hill Loop is a 3.5-mile hike within Morgan Hill State Forest. It is part of the Finger Lakes Trail system.

The trail begins near Spruce Pond and then heads into the forest where some selective clearing has occurred. The trail goes over Fellows Hill and then crosses over Herlihy Road. Just after this, you will pass by Baby Falls. After this point, there is about a mile left before arriving back at the trailhead.

Trail Conditions: There are tree roots and may be mud along the trail. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.

Directions to the trailhead: From Rte. 81 exit 14, take Rte. 80 East about 5 miles. Turn right on Herlihy Rd. Spruce Pond parking lot is about 2 miles ahead. The first mile is paved and the second mile is gravel- please drive slowly on the gravel road. Parking is limited in the lot, but there is plenty of room for overflow parking along the road. Please remember to arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign in.

OSC cycling on Wednesday, August 19 will begin at the parking lot adjacent to the Circle K store on Rt. 92 Cazenovia Rd in Manlius. This is at the corner of Rt 92 and Enders Rd, also home to Walgreens and Gabriella's, an excellent ice cream store!

The ride will leave at 6:00. Please try to arrive by 5:45. The route goes south on Rt 92 and Pompey Hollow Rd; the longer route goes by the new Madison County Park at Delphi Falls.

Tailwater Lodge Bike Ride (08/22/2026)

Bike Ride and lunch at the Tailwater Lodge

The Onondaga Ski Club has added another Saturday ride to its schedule for 2026 - rides to experience some different and beautiful terrain combined with the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch after the rides.

This Ride will be the Tailwater Ride. We will start at the Tailwater Lodge in Altmar, NY and ride 15 - 25 mile routes, returning to the Tailwater Lodge for an optional lunch. The Committee has provided maps and cue sheets on the OSC website for participants to use. Look at the Activities>Cycling page and click Ride Maps>Tailwater Lodge (folder)

Cycling the Adirondack Rail Trail (09/10/2026)

Our plan is to meet at the Rail Trail terminus in Tupper Lake on Thursday, September 10th at approximately 11 a.m. At that point, our overnight bags will be loaded into a vehicle for transport to Lake Placid. The group will then proceed on the rail trail to Lake Placid, an approximate 34-mile ride, stopping in Saranac Lake for lunch.

If you are a rider who feels 34 miles is too far, you might consider starting your ride at the Floodwood Road area instead. This is the area where we started our ride last year. We can arrange for the luggage transport vehicle to meet those riders on Floodwood Road.

For those of you not familiar with the rail trail, it is a former rail bed converted into a multi-use trail with a surface of compacted stone dust. This surface allows all types of bicycles to ride, even road bikes with narrower tires. It should also be noted that the trail's maximum pitch is approximately 1.5 percent, so we will not be riding up and down hills!! This really is a trail ride for all ability levels.

We will spend the night at the High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid. They have given us a room rate of $159.00, plus taxes. While in Lake Placid, we will have a community dinner on Thursday evening, and on Friday, September 11th, we will ride from Lake Placid back to either Floodwood Road or Tupper Lake.

OSC September Meeting and Picnic (09/19/2026)

Our Annual September picnic, in place of the Holiday Inn Express Meeting, will be on Saturday, September 19, noon.

I apologize that it is the same weekend as the Covewood trip. The weekend before that, I was out of town, and the other weekend was Labor Day, so sometimes you can’t get everything to work for everybody.

I will be bringing marinated cooked chicken. Please bring a dish to share. Also, you’re welcome to bring your own alcoholic beverages, but they cannot be in glass containers. Glass containers are not allowed at the park.

We will be at Marcellus Park again this year at the Grove Pavilion.

Come and have a good time with your friends from the Onondaga Ski Club!
